Boo : "IIIICCC"

Jan "Viens ici mon petit"

Biography: Jan Jansen (pronounced JANN JANN-sen) is an odd fellow with a knack for the mechanical. He is a Illusionist and an inventor and has always something interesting to use (for example, he uses crossbows of his own invention). He has made the 'Flasher Master Bruiser Mate'.
Jan stories
(fun to read): David Gaider, Shadows of Amn designer:
Now, as for speed-skaters, Jan himself has often told about his distant cousin, Wiggleworth Jansen, who was something of a speed skater, himself. Not by choice, mind you... and they certainly didn't consider skating much of a sport until they saw Cousin Wiggleworth blazing at top speed fleeing from a low-flying griffon. Everyone applauded as he sped past, screaming for help, and hence the eventual thought of such quick skating as a possible sport. It's funny, but almost the same thing happened to Jan's Cousin Beeloo, who sledded down Mount Waffchunk at top speed, screaming at the top of his lungs as an avalanche chased him from behind. Sadly, speed-sledding never quite caught on as poor Beeloo was buried alive mere inches before the town limits. Sad tale, really. They found poor Beeloo's sled, mind you. It was split into so many planks by the avalanche... which gave rise to speed-skiing the next year, but between that and the Great Yeti Famine of '49 just about everyone decided to stay indoors up north and give up on speed sports altogether.
Which is why we always say if it weren't for a few hungry yetis and a griffon that flies just a bit faster than you can skate, Wiggleworth could've been the start of a gnomish sporting dynasty.
Because JANN JANN-sen would indicate that Jan was of German heritage, and that just isn't true. Although there was a small branch of the Jansen family that lived off that way. In fact, one of the most famous turnip-wine brewers in Jansen history came from that part of the family: Aloise Jansen. Sent a damn fine barrel of wine to the west coast one year that was known as 'Old One-Eye '67' and has a good story as to its naming. The old gnome had a habit of wandering into the cellar on a nightly basis to dip a ladle into the barrels to 'take a taste'. He was sampling his finest brew of the year when he slipped and fell into the vat, leaving only his feet dangling near the top. Poor Aloise was forced to breath through the spigot and spent half the night there until Auntie Gerti Jansen came for a midnight cup of spirits. Of course, she thought the spigot was clogged and tried to clear it with a hairpin. Another half-inch to the left and the vat would have earned the much-less-sinister name 'Old Poke-in-the-Nose '67', wouldn't you know. Old Aloise always figured that spending an entire night upside down in a barrel of wine was a lot better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, and by golly he was right.
Well, Jan would argue that he's a fairly common gnome. But given the Jansen propensity for turnip pie and a near-sighted Aunt Binny Jansen at the last Jansen family reunion in the Underdark (held there at the insistance of crotchety Uncle Scratchy, who was positive it was going to rain)... not to mention the fact that the kitchen is never a good place to keep bottled rat poison... makes Jan a lot less common than you might think. It's a tragedy amongst the gnomes of western Faerun that is sometimes referred to as the Killer Pie Incident of '26, where far too many Jansens burped their last, and I'll kindly thank you not to bring it up again, as Jan is quite sensitive about all the suffering. (sniff!)
