UPDATE -- Relv posted on The Rangers Glade a scan of the first page of the PC Gamer June issue article which confirms that this is indeed EQ2. Others who have received that issue have confirmed it as well. I am told it should hit the news stands May 7th, so be sure to grab a copy. You can see that scan at . Zoom in to read it. Launch date of the game is set for October, 2003. Below is an unconformed synopsis of the article that was posted by Wolfie as a comment to the news post. As I do not have the magazine article, I can only say that this seems to fit in with some other facts I have received since posting this and I thus believe it to be accurate, but take it as you may:
Required: PIII 733 or athlon XP, 512 MB RAM, GeForce3 or better video card.
Back to original 3 continents. Velious, Kunark and Luclin are explained away.
Freeport has fallen to evil and the Pallys have retreated to a Fortress of Marr. Likewise, Qeynos has ousted the Rogues and they have a new city.
Iksar still walk Norrath though their Homeland is gone. No Moon, no Vah Shir. Kerrans replace them.
50% of zones are new, the other half re-imagined.
Zoning will be faster, but MOBS can chase across zones. Some will cease to pursue after a while.
You start picking a race, appearance and sex. No stat points or classes.
Newbie quests provide good rewards like a compass to end sense heading tedium.
Takes 30 minutes to attain level 6. Then you decide to be fighter, priest, mage, rogue or tradesman. At 15 you start to specialize. Fighter for instance can choose among warrior, Crusader or Brawler. At 30 you finally specialize. Crusader can become Paladin, ShadowKnight or Ranger.
Leveling will be faster and top out at 100 with support for future expansions to attain 200.
Skills will include Knowledge, Technique and Arts. These will determine your ability to use items, weapons and armor which will be "transient" and breakable. This will put an emphasis on player made high end items that break and need to be replaced providing for a better economy.
A 50th level weapon will also require the 50th level of Knowledge to equip it properly. Giving said item to a 10th level player will greatly reduce its effectiveness and increase the chance of breaking it. Goodbye to twinking.
Dying becomes less onerous. Your corpse will remain for a time to provide for a rez, but you will spawn at your bind point with your equipment, minus an item or 2 depending on the circumstances. You will not, however lose experience. You will incur an experience "debt". You will continue to gain experience from the point you died, but a portion of what you gain will go into paying off the "debt".
Bind points will be liberally scattered throughout and you will never be more than 5 minutes from one. No bind points in dungeons however.
Banks will be localized and you will have to carry stuff from one bank to deposit into another. Players will need to buy horses, carts and boats for this purpose. There will be need to hire mecenary PC's to protect caravans with PC's good from NPC attacks on long journeys.
PC's will be able to buy plots of land and build a simple, upgradeable structure on it. Invite friends to locate nearby and reach a minimum level to become a community with a guard tower and NPC guards patrolling your community which now can support community stuctures eventually resulting in playhouses providing entertainment as in weddings, plays, tournaments and so forth.
Fighting will include picking a specific hit location for attacking MOBS and creature animation is said to be stunning. Griffons will be specks in the sky before they come rocketing down on you.
Spirit of the Bear will show the PC slowly morphing into bear shape. A Bonewall damage shield will actually appear as a cage of bones topped with skulls all around the PC.
Lastly a much higher level of polygons will allow for incredibly detailed landscapes and structures.

Alors pourquoi verant sortirait autre chose ?

EverQuest 2 Officiel
Par Dodger le 24/4/2002 Ã 13:14:55 (#1337366)
The world of EQ2 is set some time into the future from the current EverQuest world. There will be only three continents however at release. 50% of the zones will be entirely new, and 50% will be rebuilt areas of the traditional Norrath. But the world has changed. The article describes how Freeport has been taken over by the corrupt Freeport militia and the remnant paladins isolated in a new area known as Marr. The Iksar still roam, but the Vah Shir have disappeared (Kerrans are however playable).
3 continents....
Antonica, Faydwer et Odus ....
Plus de ToV *bwououou* ;)
Iksars still roam....
Ca a du faire un stock de sacs a main =)Banks will no longer be global. Rather each town will have a unique bank to be accessed, and if large amounts of goods need to be moved from one bank to another then a horse and cart or boat can be acquired for the journey.
As towns develop from the placement of houses the world will spawn guard towers and NPCs to man them to protect the towns.
Ultima Online va mourir =(No stats will be assigned at creation. Simply race, appearance and sex. Classes and any stat assignment will occur later in the game. At Level 6 you will pick a base class: fighter, priest, mage, rogue or tradesmen. At Level 15 you can then specialize these classes further. At Level 30 you will make a final specialization choice and that will determine your class for the rest of that characters life. The current planned Level cap is 100, though it could be extended up to 200 through expansions.
Nouvelle "classe" !
Tradesman !
Ca doit etre sympa de passer sa journee a ramasser des caillous pour faire du metal :pItems will be able to decay or break. Items will have recommended levels, and use of items far above you will have diminished effect and a greater chance of breaking. This is obviously to address twinking (the equipping of high level items on low level players). Item decay will however ensure tradeskills are more viable and a greater part of the economy.
Ca ca sent Diablo =)There will be 3 'skills' which enhance your character. Knowledge, Technique and Arts. According to the article Knowledge affects what level of items you can equip , Technique determines how well you can use weapons or items, and Arts handles more basic functions like foraging or kicking. This system will be interesting to keep an eye on, most particularly in relation to its advancement model.
Bien !
Ca devient *realiste*The death system is still not fully determined. The article does show however that the development team will ensure death still has a reasonably heavy penalty. Whilst doing corpse recovery for hours will be probably become a thing of the past, death will still be a pain. One change however is that death will simply incur an XP debt: extra experience you will need to recover before continuing to advance through your level. This means no more loss of level from death - ever.
"Prepare for a future yet to unfold"
